Sri Lakshmi Pengal Munnetra Sangam

Rational Background

Sri Lakshmi Pengal Munnetra Sangam (SLPMS) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 and registered in 2012 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. We proud to have 12A,80G certificates. Its mission is to collaborate with vulnerable communities to build a society free from illiteracy, caste, creed, poverty, slavery, and gender discrimination.

Its main objective is to address the developmental needs of its member through livelihood and civic initiative and to create a distinct identity for itself as a community institution-owned, managed and run by the community themselves.

SLPMS focuses on creating opportunities for minority communities by developing leadership among marginalized women, people living with HIV (PLHIV), female sex workers (FSWs), transgender individuals (TGs), men who have sex with men (MSM), and differently-abled citizens. The organization empowers these groups to live with dignity and self-respect through strategies that strengthen systems, engage in policy development, and build skills and capacities based on community needs.

SLPMS is supported by a dedicated team of board and community members who contribute voluntarily. The organization is currently expanding its activities to encompass broader aspects of social development, aiming to establish itself as a key player in this field.
